New Project: Japanese Ebonite Fountain Pens

We are very excited to share with you our first pens made from the best Japanese ebonite. We just launched a Kickstarter campaign where you can get them at a 40% discount (early backer).
Why Ebonite?
Since 2015, we have been making metal pens in California. We have experimented with aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, stainless steel, and titanium. During the last year, we have been searching for the highest quality Ebonite. We are thrilled to have found the perfect one in Japan. It has a stunning matte black color with amazing mechanical properties. Ebonite has long been regarded as one of the best materials to make fountain pens. It is excellent for machining, has a beautiful appearance, and it is smooth to the touch. In addition, it absorbs heat rapidly so it warms in your hand while in use and creates a wonderful writing experience. Ebonite is a hard rubber obtained by vulcanizing natural rubber from gum trees with sulfur and linseed oil for prolonged periods.
Two Pen Sizes, Large #6 Nib, Eye Dropper
We are offering our standard-size PIUMA and our PIUMA Pocket fountain pen. Both pens come with a #6 nib made by Bock in Germany. We also designed both pens for eye dropping capabilities- threads are designed to prevent ink leakage and o-rings are in place to allow a perfect seal. All components in this edition have been refined for the best writing experience. This pen is designed to accept all Parker-style refills and features a novel twist mechanism that offers a fun and quick operation. Solid blocks of space-grade aluminum are CNC-machined and anodized in matte black. The whole pen has a circular micro-texture for better grip and aesthetics.
